Scrapping on the Metolius - July 8

Spent my 5th night in a row on the Metolius River. The last two were just Griffin and I. I've been coming in to work in the mornings, then going back out after the store closes. Griffin has built a really nice fire pit, and it's a good way to get rid of some of the brush and trimming he's been doing. Last night after we grilled our steaks, ate, watched a buck come up and circle the salt lick he put out, we went in and showered, and while watching a movie, I created a couple of cards:

Loveyoucard
Loveyoucard2
Used a lot of stuff on the second card from Jenni Bowlin's 'Junque Box' it's always fun going through those, so many treasures :) Also used Heidi Grace clear phrase stickers on both, love those! A lot of AC and new Kaiser Craft bling. Bird stamp is new October Afternoon.

Did this layout inspired by the 'I Inspire Me' blog http://inspiremeinspireyou.blogspot.com/...makes sense that you should be inspired by the things you love and that surround you, doesn't it? My wedding ring was my inspiration :)
Diamond_days
Love my one-of-a-kind, original design ring...my sister's late uncle-in-law made and designed it with black jade and platinum, using the diamonds from my original 'very' 70's set :)

I've also been getting a lot of inspiration from here:
http://lilybeanpaperie.typepad.com/lilybeans_paperie/
She does the most amazing work!

Seth went out on his first long fire fight...he was on the upper Deschutes fighting a fire from Friday until Sunday night. I haven't had a chance to talk to him yet, but I'm anxious to hear what he has to say.

That's about it for today, it's going to be in the mid 90's...love this weather :)

Sorry Nadine and Davinie....

I didn't mean to cut you out of the second pic....I need a serious tutorial on blogging...maybe Tessa will help me.....esp. before I put together the first kit club for the store :)

Stan is going to look at a one year-old Weimeraimer for Griffin tonight....the people apparantly have 3 (two are the parents of this one)......and they are relocating and won't have the space for three Weimies...(they are kind of large). Our dogs have always been very well trained...and we've gotten them as puppies...I'm not sure about getting a 1-yr. old., but it will be Griffin's AND he is at a place that would be perfect for him to train him at, and he will do a good job, regardless...we don't tolerate mis-behaved animals (what we consider as mis-behaving), no barking, begging (maybe a little), but they must OBEY.... We'll see....I really don't see Stan turning a dog down....and I know he misses Fritz (Griffin has been taking him out with him to the Camp Sherman to work with him...so he's been gone for over half the week since Griffin has started working. I went home last night and Stan said, 'it's kind of quiet here without Fritz,' isn't that cute? Like Fritz is a chatter-mouth??? Seriously, I do miss him in the morning as well....we are a family all about dogs...and the weird thing is...dogs love US....when any of us are around someone else's dogs...they flock to us..go figure!
I finished a layout, but haven't scanned it yet, it was inspired by the 'I inspire me' blog
http://inspiremeinspireyou.blogspot.com/
Some great stuff there for inspiration!
Seth didn't get home until 9pm last night, I was worried he was out on a fire......he WAS out patroling...they have to look for lightening strikes that may have struck ground. He looked so cute in his uniform...I tried to get a pic, but he was already headed for the shower...next time :)

June 30 - Hot Thunder Cloud Skies

Our big parking lot sale at Scrapbooking Outside The Box was last week-end. Saturday was very busy and hot....even had some ladies get sunburned necks and feet while shopping! Sunday was a bit slower, with some scary overhead thunder and lightening. I had three great helpers in Deanna Christianson, Nadine Nyman, and Davinie Fiero. Here we are in all our steaming hot (literally...I think it was 98 degrees) glory:

Parkinglotsale
Parkinglotsale2
I was actually sore last night, after moving tables, and hauling boxes to and fro. All in all it was a good week-end, just fun to spend time with the girls! I tell you, next year, you all should take me more seriously when I tell you my contributors for this sale have some serious good scrap stuff! :)

Next on my agenda....I'm considering starting a monthly kit club. It seems a shame that I have all the newest, greatest products...and such a limited clientel (due to our rural area). I carry every major brand, including the smaller 'boutique' type brands, such as, Jenni Bowlin, Teresa Collins, October Afternoon, Pink Paislee, Heather Bailey, to the bigger manufacturers...Fiskars, Fancy Pants, Basic Gray, American Crafts, My Minds Eye, Creative Imaginations, Cosmo Cricket, Crate Paper, Prima, Kaiser Crafts, Daisy D's, Maya Road, Bazzill, Scenic Route, Autumn Leaves, Technique Tuesday, Rusty Pickle, Heidi Swapp, Hambly, Ki Memories, K & Company, Tinkering Ink, Making Memories, Anna Griffin, Bo Bunny and Page Frames...the list goes on...
If any of you have any interest in something like this....please let me know, I'd love to spread all this wonderful product around. One thing for sure, each month would have a unique product to the club alone...something handmade or vintage....possibly something handmade my Tessa Ann Watte :) Keep it in mind, and let me know what you think!
Please keep my boys in your prayers as they are both working in the wilderness, in the fire season (Seth specifically with the Oregon Dept. of Forestry in their fire unit).
More later....the skies are looking rather ominous right now....eeek!

Our First 'Scrap Club' Event

Last night was our first 'Scrap Club' night...Nadine (Nyman) hosted, and she did a great job....she made a cute banner, her husband made adoreable placecard holders, which she adorned with adoreable little nameplates, and goody cup holders. I meant to take pictures, totally forgot, I'll try to get some tomorrow :) Her theme was 'dots' and it was fun to see what everyones take was ont his. It was really just a fun 'get-together' time for us :)

We're also getting ready for our 'parking lot' sale on Sat. and Sun., where my customers will have tables and be able to sell any of their unused scrapbook products. If you are in the Bend area, be sure and come down to the store and check it out (I'm sure there will be some great bargains).

Seth applied for and was interviewed for a job with the Oregon Forestry Dept., and he got the job (summer employment)....he will be fighting forest fires (when they occur....which is often in the high desert of Central Oregon) which scares me silly.....but I know it is a good move for him and his college declaration of Biology.

This was the layout I finished last night at the club night:
Alwaysus1
Alwaysus2
(the holes in my border punches are 'dots' o:) That's my story and I'm sticking with it!

I've been inspired over at 2peas a lot lately.....especially with the 'I Inspire Me' layouts and cards I'm seeing, their blog is fun too! There are so many 'sweet' peas over there too...a place I visit oftem during the day :)
Have a great Thursday!

Tues., June 17, 2008 - How Old Are YOU?

When I was just typing my title, I almost wrote 1998...how weird is that? Not quite as weird as easily as the number 37 comes out of my mouth when someone asks me how old I am....this is not intentional, I promise...it just comes out, if I don't stop to think about it.....In reality, I am 46, 47 in Sept. I don't mind being 46, I guess I just don't FEEL 46, either that, or I'm stuck at 37 for some strange reason. I don't even recall anything significant that happened that particular year (not that it didn't, just doesn't pop out at me). Just one of those random, weird things I do...

I know, I just said I didn't 'feel' old...I kind of do today, but I know it just due to my infusion yesterday at the hospital. It was long (7 hours) and the needle was rubbing on something in my chest (possibly a nerve?)...needless to say, got nothing done there, or when I got home. Hope to have different results tonight when I get home, because we got in some yummy new October Afternoon goodies yesterday. I've been waiting for this order forever!

I did get this done a few days ago, using Jenni Bowlin, Art Warehouse 'Liberty' line and some Scenic route:
Sethelementwindow
Love this pic of Seth, it looks like one of the author's book cover photo's he loves to read.

Some pics of new goodies at the store...the pic of AC Thickers is about 1/4th of the variety I have in stock right now :)

The first two are some of the October Afternoon goodies, the third, some American Craft goodies, the last some new Ki Memories 'Bloom' along with some of Tessa Ann's homemade frames, flowers and buttons (they just happen to go perfectly with Bloom :).
Take care all!

June 11 & Some Sun!

Finally, a second day of sunshine for us Central Oregonian's, although it is a bit breezy :)

Last week-end was our friends from son's wedding on Saturday...seems so strange that the children of our friends that we grew up with are getting married. No marriages yet in this Webb family.

Ashley started her summer job yesterday as the Youth activities coordinator at Sunriver Resort. Hopefully she'll hear something about a full-time teaching job soon. Griffin is going to be living and working on the Metolius River, cleaning up and taking care of Cindy & Duncan's (my oldest sis and BIL) house and property they are trying to sell. I think Seth will be working at Brightwood Corp. for the summer. He has decided on Biology for his major, which he needed to do going into his Jr. college year this Fall. Griffin has one more year as a Business major. The boys are sharing a house with three other boys from Redmond next year, I tell ya,' those Redmond boys sure stick together...kind of cute :)

Tessa Ann brought in some of her Etsy goodies, sold at her Etsy shop http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5816198, here at Scrapbooking Outside The Box...they are even cuter IRL than they are in the photos...really special embellishments!

Not much new to share...I did make a card!
Bloomcard
And a close-up:

I do have some pictures from camping last week-end, but they are on Stan's little point and shoot, which I am terrible at (I really need my view-finder :). I will try and get those uploaded today.

Last Week-End of May Already!

So we took the plunge two week-ends ago, and found the trailer with the floor plan, slide-outs and size we wanted (well, it is bigger than we had originally planned on, but I think for the better :). We got a 27' Jayco Qwest, it has a large slide-out, I think it is 13', but I could be wrong, it has the 'rear lounge' like we liked, with a rear window and lounge chair (we thought that would be nice since most places you camp you back into, and your view would be out that back window). Stan and the boy's picked it up Sat. morning and did the walk-through and got a tutorial on how things operated. I got home from work around 5:30...Diane called from Camp Sherman (the Metolius River)...told us to come on up, I told her we had no supplies what so ever...no food, nothing stocked.....but Griffin volunteered to work at the store for me Sunday and Tessa was opening for me Monday, so that would be two days! We rushed around, threw in some towels, pillows, bedding and clothes (no food, Diane said they had plenty). Stan was a nervous wreck...complained the whole way, that he didn't even have extensions for his mirrors...saying it was 'too much of a trailer for us.' Well, let's just say that by Monday, I don't think he felt that way....with the two of us, Griffin & Seth and Fritz...all the space was quite nice, especially wth it raining on and off for those 3 days. It was nice to be around other 'RV'ers' who had some experience and know how, as far as what you need, what works, what doesn't. Sunday, Di and I went into Sisters and I did get a few staples...(a coffe pot, pan, some food, and some cookie dough...for some reason, I couldn't wait to make cookies in the darn thing...even though I've never made cookies pre-packaged from the refrigerated section of the store...it made 'space sense' to me). We all had a great time, the Seth shot his new bow and arrow a million times...he lost an arrow, which I know kills him. Both boy's fished, I think Stan even fished a bit. It's reallyl quite fun playing house in it :) I think Stan is taking it out to Antelope Resevoir this week-end, but I don't have anyone to work for me :(

I've been getting awfully inspired viewing the gallery over at 2peas lately...such great talent! I would post more, if I weren't so gosh darned slow....I swear, I can work on a layout for days...I'm forever repositioning things, would love to just stop at some point, but I'm always pushing things around on the page...I did get this done with a pic from Mother's Day..... (I'm so into trees right now...I've even got a bunch pre-cut for cards, etc....working more with my Silhouette lately).
Theseboysarethebest
And I did this one with an older pic. of Ashley's college graduation using some fun feather's that a new company 'Feather Expressions' sent me:
Collegegrad
Tessa (Tessa Ann Watte) makes some great felt flowers for her etsy shop that I am going to add to this one...see...I'm always adding, taking away from my projects..never finished.
Have a great week-end all!

Happy Belated Mother's Day!

A day after Mother's Day, and hoping you all had a wonderful one.  We didn't do a whole lot , went to camp Sherman and the Metolius River to see where Griffin might possibly be working this summer...at one of my sister's properties on the river...making a very old house and property saleable :)

We saw another sister, Diane and her hubby, Mark at their cabin on the Metolius for a quick visit.  We stopped and ate at The Gallery before the boy's had to head back over the mountain to school.  Stan got a few pics of me and the boy's and on the Metolius:

Mothersday1 As you can see, it was supposed to be sunny and in the seventies...but by the river it was in the mid-sixties, but also, very windy and chilly.  I love that Stan knows I want to have pics to document the times we are able to spend with the kids, they ARE precious  We saw some nice bucks with some Mothersday2 Mothersday3

some bucks with some pretty velvet on their horns.  This is where my boy's (all 3 of them) would be 24/7 if they could....they so love the outdoors, especially right  here in Central Oregon.

We also went up to see the progress on 'Casa Campbell,' my sister's house she and Duncan are building in Sister's.  It's going to be beautiful...I think I'm as excited as theya re for it to be completed.....I'm  really looking forward to swimming in the endless pool that has a picture-perfect view of Mt. Jefferson.

I need to take the time to contact Ursula (Ursula Page) to figure out the correct sizing of my photos and layouts for typepad...she is a savvy blogger AND photographer :)

Still getting a lot of goodies in the store; Noteworthy from Making Memories, Delaney and Addie, Love Elsie's new lines, 'Forrest' which is an outdoor/camping line and 'Daisy,' which is a cute dog line, some more of Heidi Swapp's new release...new gels, mirrorors and chadeliers and foam letters...and Jenni
Bowlin's May release....which is red, white and blue...including a great lined navy label paper :).  There is new felt ribbon cards from CI for Narratives...which makes me think/hope that Karen's (Russell) new lines will be shipping soon!!!!  I also heard a rumor that the much anticipated October Afternoon products will start shipping this week as well :)

There is a lot of goodness waiting to happen......do something about it!!!! :)

Sunshine!!!

Eleganttag We are finally seeing some sunshine, I'm so glad....I think everyone was getting a little tired of the spring greys.

I have an amazing customer that makes these amazing vintage boxes.....she left one here at the store to see if there was any interest in a class....she uses a lot of vintage items on them, along with all my papers, and some embellishments.  I need to ask her if I can photograph them and post...they are absolutely stunning!!!!

She inspired me to do a little mini verson of her work with this tag:

I also finally broke down and did one of those intimitdating 'my word' albums...I did team, and focused on Seth's Sr. year in basketball...he really was so fortunate to go to the state tournament every year he was on Varsity....

Team1 Team2 Team3 Team4 Team5 Team6 Team7

It ended up being a really fun album to create, along with a learning process....I think these are best done started from the back to front...just mho.

Are any of you watching American Idol?  Who are your picks?   I'm  pretty much siding with David Cook...seems I always go with the 'rockers,' must be my 70's teen years...I do love the show, and I'm so thankful I have a scrap room that I can watch it in and create while Stan is dozing on his couch downstairs watching baseball ...we always know we will always end up in bed together touching toes :)  He's just been working so darn hard lately, going in early and staying late, I know the minute he goes horizontal, he will be out...he works darn hard, and I love him all the more for it !!

That's all for now...Griffin is coming home tonight from college, Seth will be home tomorrow.

Ashley stopped by the store, and she got a job for the summer fascilitating a  youth program at a Sunriver Resort for the summer, and she has some upcoming job interviews for teaching full-time in the Fall, keeping fingers crossed for that!

Have a great Mother's Day All!

Winter In Spring

Our weather here in Central Oregon is beyond sporatic.....85 one day....snowng here now, it's just crazy!  That is one of the things I love about Central Oregon...all the different seasons we enjoy.

Stan and I had a great week-end in Portland.  Friday night we went to a benefit for 'The Children's Course,' benefit, which is one of my sister and brother-in-law's foundations.  This is one similiar to 'Friends Of The Children'

The Children's Course

Friends Of The Children

The Children's Course is a way to introduce children at risk to an activity/hobby, which teaches discipline, perseverance and dedication to children who would not otherwise get the opportunity to be exposed to golf.  Friend's Of The Children is much more complex and nationally known...so much so that Oprah is getting involved in the foundation, and will be including Friend's of the Children on 'Oprah's Big Give,' which will be a huge boost for the foundation, which we are all excited about.

I love watching my sister and brother in law in action at one of their benefits, working so diligently at something they believe so strongly in.  I"m very proud of them!

Stan had the opportunity to go to a Portland Trailblazer game on Sat.  night, which he did, with my BIL (it's hard to turn down courtside seats :).  So we stayed an extra night.  I ran around with one of my other sister's, Diane...we hit the needle-point shops, man, hard to resist some of those hand-painted deisngs when you see one that draws you in......kind of like scrapbooking!!!  I am currently working on a mottled tomato piece.

Stan and I made it back in town to hit the RV show.  We've been seriously thinking about buying a trailer (Stan says he's getting a little old to be sleeping in a wall tent for elk-hunting, imagine that?).  I would love to go with them, I'd be a perfectly happy camper to stay in the trailer and scrap, or needlepoint, or both while they are out, and have a hot meal ready for them when they get back to camp.  We're just in the process of looking at floor plans, deciding which one we like the best.  We are agreeing on pretty much everything, which will make our final decision pretty easy.

I haven't had a chance to play with many of the new goodies in the store, so tonight, I  hope to get in some scrap time.  I'm especially anxious to play with the new Pink Paislee line, their papers are right down my alley!  If you haven't been in to see them, stop by the store and check out the cool designs, they have some awesome die-cut papers :)

In parting, I will share this dimentional layout I did, using mainly Jenni Bowlin products...they are so great :)
